Biography

Sanja Kutnjak Ivković is a professor at the School of Criminal Justice, Michigan State University. She holds a Ph.D. in criminology from the University of Delaware and an S.J.D. from Harvard University. Kutnjak Ivković has received the 2017 Mueller Award for Distinguished Contributions to International Criminal Justice by the Academy of Criminal Justice Sciences, International Section. She has also won the Michigan State University 2012–2013 Integrative Studies in Social Science Excellence in Teaching Award.

Kutnjak Ivković is the author of The Fallen Blue Knights: Controlling Police Corruption and Lay Participation in Criminal Trials. She is a co-author of Reclaiming Justice: The International Tribunal for the Former Yugoslavia and Local Courts and Enhancing Police Integrity.

Kutnjak Ivković is a co-editor of Contours of Police Integrity, which received an American Society of Criminology International Division Honorable Mention, Measuring Police Integrity, and Exploring Police Integrity. Reclaiming Justice: The International Tribunal for the Former Yugoslavia and Local Courts won the Academy of Criminal Justice Sciences International Section Best Book Award. Contours of Police Integrity received an American Society of Criminology International Division Honorable Mention.

Her work has appeared in leading academic and law journals, including Law and Society Review; Journal of Criminal Law and Criminology; Criminology and Public Policy; Law and Policy; Stanford Journal of International Law; Cornell International Law Journal; Crime, Law, and Social Change; European Journal of Criminology; Policing and Society; Policing: An International Journal; Police Quarterly.

Kutnjak Ivković is currently serving as the Chair of the American Society of Criminology International Division and the Co-Chair of the Law and Society Association Collaborative Research Network on Lay Participation. Dr. Kutnjak Ivković has served as Vice Chair (2009–2011) and Chair (2011–2013) of the Academy of Criminal Justice Sciences International Section. She’s co-founder of the Law and Society Association Collaborative Research Network on Lay Participation.
