Biography

Rick Rodriguez is an Assistant Professor in the School of Criminal Justice at Michigan State University. Full time he is a Special Agent with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), and has over 14 years of experience conducting state and federal complex criminal investigations in a variety of violations. Dr. Rodriguez began his career at the Los Angeles, California HIS field office. Currently, he is assigned to the HSI Headquarters Office of International Affairs where he manages collaborative multinational operations for Attaché offices in East Asia. Dr. Rodriguez is also an active military reservist. He is a commissioned officer in the U.S. Coast Guard Reserve and has served for over 20 years. During this time he has participated in many of the Coast Guard missions to include, including search and rescue, maritime law enforcement, port security, and national defense as an assistant operations officer for a deployed maritime security detachment. Currently, he is assigned to the United States Joint Staff South, Allies Partner Force Development Division, where he contributes and co-authors multinational concepts in support of the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff and NATO engagement initiatives. Dr. Rodriguez has a Ph.D. in Criminal Justice with a specialization in Law and Public Policy from Walden University, a Master’s degree in Management with a specialization in Justice Administration from St. Thomas University, a Master’s degree in Military Operational Art and Science from Air University (USAF), and a Bachelor’s degree in Criminology from Florida Atlantic University.
